Former vice president, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, has said that only the All Progressives Congress (APC) can give succour to the common man in the country.

Present at the colloquium were: APC interim Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; a former military Head of State, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd); Chief Segun Osoba, Governors Ibikunle Amosun, Rauf Aregbesola, Kayode Fayemi and Chibuike Amaechi of Ogun, Osun, Ekiti and Rivers  states respectively, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State paid glowing tributes to the celebrant.

I’ve No Plans Of Dumping A ‘Vibrant’ Party Like APC, Says Okorocha
Rochas-Okorocha
Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has denied media reports that he is on the verge of dumping the All Progressive Congress (APC) for either the Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA) or All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), on which platform he became governor.

The reports said Okorocha was considering dumping the APC which he helped nursed to reality, following the allegedly declining fortunes of the party in the South-East as well as the political alignment and realignment within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which has seen some staunch supporters of the governor desert him for the party.

Okorocha, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Media, Sam Onwuemeodo, described reports about his intention to leave APC as false saying, “The truth of the matter is that I cannot leave APC for any reason with a lot of people across the nation looking up to me in APC”.
The governor argued that nothing would make him abandon the APC, which he called a “vibrant party” having been one of the leading lights in the formation of the party and what it is today.

PDP Thugs Unleash Terror On APC Registration in Rivers State

11:39 0
The APC in Rivers State cried out that there were plans to attack its members during the party's registration exercise but the police failed to take their words serious for reasons best known to them.

The fast-growing opposition party notes with sadness the implementation of plot by Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI), the political machinery of Supervising Minister for Education, Nyesom Wike and some PDP agents to unleash mayhem and disrupt APC’s membership registration exercise which started in all the 4,442 political Units across the State.
"When we first got intelligence reports on the planned attacks, we initially did not attach much importance to it, but we were proved wrong when some of our registration officers and innocent citizens of Rivers State who turned up to be registered by APC as the exercise took off today were attacked by thugs hired by PDP and GDI.
"To our shock, our Registration Units in Tombia, old Bakana all in Kalabari axis of the State and Woji Ward 6 in Obio-Akpor LGA the Local Government Area of Chief Nyesom Wike were all attacked. Our Degema LGA Supervisory Committee Chairman for the Registration exercise and former Chairman Rivers State Civil Service Commission, Mr. Ben Orugbani escaped death when his house was shattered with bullets in the old Bakana just for accepting to ensure that this type of politics of odium and violence is stopped in Rivers State."

APC Alerts Lagosians on Training of Hoodlums for Lagos Roads

09:03 0
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has warned that any attempt to compromise the present security of lives and property being enjoyed by Lagosians will meet with stiff resistance by both the government and people of Lagos State. The party threw this warning in view of the reported training of some people by the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) under the guise of policing federal roads in Lagos.
“Lagos APC is calling on the National Assembly to track and act on this deliberate breach of law and the security of Nigerian citizens before it becomes late. We are using this to draw attention of all Nigerians to this hideous plan, which stands to throw Nigeria’s safest state into protracted security turmoil. We urge Lagosians to remain vigilant and ensure they resist any efforts to use this illegal police to harass and intimidate them.
“For the avoidance of doubts, there are only about 200 federal roads of the more than 10,000 roads in Lagos. These federal roads are so ill maintained and so dilapidated that the Lagos State government, since 1999 has taken over the reconstruction and maintenance of some of these roads for the economic benefit of Nigerians.
"We want to alert Nigerians that FERMA is supposed to be intervention agency under the Federal Ministry of Works, saddled with the responsibility of maintaining federal roads in Nigeria. We want to also alert Nigerians that the incapacity of FERMA and its failure is advertised in the poor condition of federal roads all over the country. We also wish to remind Nigerians that FERMA had always explained its failure to maintain Nigerian roads to paucity of resources."

Former Bauchi State Governor, Adamu Mu'azu Becomes PDP Chairman

09:02 0
A former Bauchi State Governor , Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu, has been chosen as the new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party by President Goodluck Jonathan and governors. He replaces the former chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who resigned from his position last Wednesday.
Mu'azu, who was last week sworn in as the chairman of the National Pensions Commission by Jonathan, was picked as a consensus candidate at a meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and the governors of the party at the Presidential Villa in a meeting that ended at 1:22 am on Monday (today) morning.

The 58-year-old Bauchi politcian was governor of Bauchi State from May 29, 1999 to May 29, 2007. Born in Boto, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State (then part of the Northern Region), Mu'azu attended primary school from 1962 to 1968. Between 1971 and 1975, he attended the Gindiri Boy's Secondary School in the then Benue-Plateau State where he obtained Division one (Distinction) in the West African School Certificate Examination.

Jonathan & Patience's Candidate Rejected: Governors Choose Mu'azu As PDP Chairman

08:19 0
Corruption is one thing that is now synonymous with the PDP, so no one should be surprised...
Former Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, who still has a corruption case hanging on his neck is the chosen candidate for the office of the new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party by the governors who challenged and rejected President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife's candidate.
A governor who was at the meeting said, “Yes, we have picked Mu’azu. He will be presented to the members of the PDP NEC on Monday(today) for ratification.”
He said President Jonathan wanted Mohammed Wakil at all costs but was vehemently opposed by most of the governors. He said the meeting lasted long because Jonathan didn't want to accept defeat.

Mu’azu was eventually accepted as a consensus candidate at a meeting between President Jonathan and the governors of the party at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday night.

The meeting ended at 1:22 am on Monday (today) morning.

Mu’azu was born on June 11, 1955, and was governor of Bauchi from May 29, 1999 to May 29, 2007.

Before the two meetings, President Jonathan had a private meeting with Seriake Dickson on his home state of Bayelsa, ostensibly to make him influence other governors on who would emerge but all efforts failed.

President Jonathan Seeks Foreign Assistance For 2015 Elections

09:13 0
President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday urged the international community to support the next year general election in Nigeria.
In an annual cocktail organised for members of the diplomatic corps at the Presidential Villa yesterday, Jonathan promised that the 2015 elections will be freer and fairer than that of 2011.
Stressing that he conducted the 2011 elections while "standing on one leg", he said that now he has the full mandate of the people to do what is right.

He pointed out that the envoys' countries' support was essential for 2015 election as Nigeria cannot do it all alone.

He said: "Let me also thank the dean for commending the elections in 2011, and I know that one thing that must be agitating the minds of diplomats that are here and the heads of your government, is the next general elections in this country."
"The general elections will take place early next year but the processes that will lead to the elections will commence this year.

Jonathan's Secret Agenda With PDP Governors Comes Out

President Goodluck Jonathan and some Peoples Democratic Party governors who are said to be very loyal to him met in Auja on Wednesday to strategise on the way of the crisis rocking the party and how to give the fast growing opposition party, the APC, a real fight ahead of 2015.

Governors that met with Jonathan include Gabriel Suswam (Benue), Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Ibrahim Shema (Katsina), Emmmanel Uduaghan (Delta), Theodore Orji (Abia), Isa Yuguda (Bauchi) and Jonah Jang (Plateau).

A top source said Jonathan is worried at the rate PDP members are decamping to APC and wants a counter strategy that could help stem the tide or at least reduce the embarrassing defections.

Also on Wednesday the National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, insisted that he had not resigned as chairman of the PDP as being speculated. Tukur's continuous stay is one of the major problem facing the PDP.

Tukur, who arrived the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa about 7.50 p.m to attend the meeting of the BoT, told State House correspondents that there was no way he would resign and it would be kept secret.
