A Dangote Flour truck carrying being used for illegal bunkering has been intercepted in Bayelsa by men of the Operation Doo-Akpor outfit, a special Police security outfit that is funded by the State government. This was made possible following random search of trucks leaving the state capital, Yenagoa.

During the random search, men of Operation Doo-Akpor intercepted a Dangote truck with registration number YKS 190 KA Jigawa, (ICT-5E-034) along the Ox Bow Lake road.

The 50ft wide Dangote truck was loaded with what looks like flour from a distance, but upon investigation it was discovered that each bag of the supposed Golden Penny Flour was in fact loaded with over 50 litres of illegally bunkered petroleum products.

Further investigation revealed that the truck was loaded with over 75 bags of the illegally bunkered products.

As soon as the discovery was made, OluFamous.Com gathered that the driver of the truck absconded. They are now in the process of questioning some officials of Dangote as well as the Truck conductor.

The Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, has suspended 21 Executive members indefinitely without pay for their failure to participate in the 2013 city walks against HIV/AIDS.

According to the governor, the suspension will serve as a deterrent to political office holders who shy away from attending government functions.

This event is held every year and it is aimed at creating awareness on the stigmatization of those living with HIV/AIDS in the society.

At the end of a 4-km walk to mark the World AIDS Day, Imoke said it had become a tradition in the state to create awareness on HIV/AIDS.

The PDP Governors” Merger With The APC By Dr. Wumi Akintide

May well the road to the nullification of a one party dictatorship in Nigeria, if it can be sustained.

If any of you believe that PDP leaders are not troubled and would not lose any sleep over this development, you will it if I tell you I have an island to sell to you in the Pacific. The development cannot be music to their ears but it has to be seen as a welcome development for Nigeria and majority of us who have been waiting and praying to celebrate the end of a one party dictatorship in our country following 38 years of military rule which have proved to be more of a curse than a blessing to a potentially great country with so much going for it but so little to show for it in 53 years of self rule.

ASUU: JAF May Join Strikers Over Reckless "Sack" Comment By Wike

The Joint Action Front (JAF) has expressed its desire to join forces with striking university lecturers over the government’s unwillingness to honor the agreement it reached with their union.
In a statement today, JAF condemned the resort to threat by the Minister of Education to the lecturers in place of honouring the agreements between them.
According to the statement, signed by secretary of the front, Comrade Abiodun Aremu, the FG's threat only confirms the fear of the university teachers that the government may not honor the agreements if it is not made to sign an MOU.

The body also condemned choosing December 4 as the deadline, even though the agreements reached with the lecturers have not been met.
The movement noted that the date was the same as the one elected for the commencement of the burial rites for Late Professor Festus Iyayi.
The professor tragically died in the auto crash involving the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, while on his own way to a NEC meeting to find solutions to the university education crisis.

JAF placed on record that the struggle to Save Public Education by ASUU and its members will outlive the Jonathan Presidency and the “class of exploiters in Nigeria”.

Nelson Mandela's grandson faces assault charges: South Africa prosecutors

South Africa will charge one of Nelson Mandela's grandsons with assault and brandishing a gun at another man, a prosecutor's official said today, in a further embarrassment for the anti-apartheid hero's large and fractious family.
Mandla Mandela is due to appear in court on Friday, Luxolo Tyali, a spokesman for the National Prosecuting Authority, said. "The NPA has decided to prosecute him and summons have been issued," Tyali said.
South Africa's Sunday Times newspaper said the younger Mandela was reported to have drawn a gun on a 44-year-old teacher whose vehicle had collided with one driven by a guest of Mandla's.

The teacher later had to undergo emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain, the newspaper said. A spokesman for the younger Mandela has said the incident never happened and the accusation was "pure fabrication".
Tyali spelled out the charges facing Mandla but declined to give details of the incident.
Mandla made headlines earlier this year when a judge ordered him to return the remains of three of Nelson Mandela's children – including those of his father – from a memorial centre dedicated to his grandfather where he had moved them two years ago.
Mandla had been sued by more than a dozen of Mandela's relatives who wanted the remains returned. Mandla said as the local head of the family, it was within his rights to bury the remains on his property.
Former president Nelson Mandela, 95, spent nearly three months in hospital this year for a lung infection that left him in critical condition. He has been receiving care at his Johannesburg home since early September.
In all, Nelson Mandela fathered six children from his three marriages. – Reuters
