22-year-old arraigned for stealing detergent

 
A 22-year-old man, Sunday John, has been arraigned before a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing some packs of detergent valued at N10,000.
The incident was said to have happened at Ebute-Ero Market, in the Lagos Island area of Lagos State.
John was said to have been caught by the people in the market and subsequently handed over to the police.
The defendant was however said to have escaped from the cell of the Ebute Ero Police Station, where he was detained.

He was later re-arrested and arraigned for stealing and escaping from the cell.
The charge read in part, “That you, Sunday John, on the 28th day “of September, 2013 at about 04.45 hours at Under Bridge, Ebute-Ero Market, Lagos-Island in the Lagos Magisterial District did steal some packs of Omo valued at N10,000 only, property of Ismaila Ogunnola and thereby committed an offence “punishable under Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.”
John pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The magistrate, Mrs. M.O Matepo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
