President Goodluck Jonathan’s kinsmen from Bayelsa State have
declared that he must contest the 2015 presidential elections whether he
likes it or not. They warned that come next year, it must be Jonathan
or nobody else.
This decision was taken in Ogbia Local Government Area on Saturday
during the formal adoption of President Jonathan as their sole candidate
for the 2015 presidential elections.
The event, which included lectures, rallies and book presentation on
the achievements of the president, was put together by the Ogbia
Graduates Forum for Positive Change.
Delivering a lecture on ‘A call for President Jonathan re-election
bid: A collective responsibility’, Mr. Awudumapu Agorodi, Special
Adviser to the Bayelsa Governor on Youths Mobilsation, said those trying
to harass President Jonathan out of office would not succeed.
The special adviser noted that the Ijaw nation had fed the country
for over 50 years yet some power mongers would not allow Jonathan, the
first Ijaw man to be president, to govern in peace.
Agorodi said, “Ijaw soil has been feeding Nigeria for over 50 years.
Our resources are good for the country but we are not qualified enough
to be president of Nigeria”.
In his own lecture, an aide to Governor Seriake Dickson on
Mobilisation, Mr. Austin Iworibo, insisted that Jonathan had no choice
but to seek reelection.
“He must run whether he likes it or not because our lives and
destinies are in his hands. 2015 is a must project, though it is not a
do or die affair”, he said.
In his own remarks, lawmaker representing Ogbia State Constituency in
the Assembly, Mr. Obedient Omotor, said no Jupiter could stand against
the president’s re-election.
He, therefore, called on the people to support Jonathan’s candidacy in 2015.
In his remarks, Chairman, Planning Committee, OGFPC, Pastor Awudumu
Audu, said the revolution that Nigeria desired was silently taking place
under the Jonathan government.
“Jonathan’s election to the seat of power is symbolic representation
of a paradigm shift, a renaissance, a new age, a new dawn in Nigeria”,
he said.
