Apata-Ganga area of Ido local government, Oyo State, Saturday, July 27 -- A new father, Saidi Taiwo, died while celebrating the birth of his son.
The 32-year-old bus driver, called by many Akinigai, slumped and died shortly after consuming locally made dry gin (known as 'paraga') at a popular paraga spot at Ago-Igbira in Adifase area of Apata-Ganga.
According to the locals, the deceased's wife had recently delivered a baby boy. Taiwo left
his wife and the newborn with his parents at Omi-Adio community to stay with one of his friends, identified as Wasiu, at Apata-Ganga.
The duo, it has been gathered, moved from one drinking spot to another in the area celebrating Taiwo's fatherhood.
Sources speculate Saidi's untimely death might be connected with his habit of excessive consumption of alcohol.
